Some things have rocky beginnings.
Around here, that's pretty much just expected. We all have challenges; mine just jump back on the table when my back is turned.
We're going to wipe the slate clean today though and build a tablescape
~my first one with all my china since before the fire~
as a test drive for the Big Feast.
Follow the pretty pictures.
I'll interject as necessary.
You know, like to tell you this little wreath came from Goodwill.
Or that this runner can be scored at Walmart right now on clearance.
My prized pumpkin tureen coupled with the wreath
get a little lift from a cake stand.
I always drooled over gold special occasion flatware.
This beautiful chest of service for 12 was an after Christmas score at KMart
a few years back, 90% off.
For $15 I could totally justify owning it.
One antique pewter ladle strictly for show.
Creamy pine cone salt and peppers match my damask vine tablecloth.
My great grandmother's china is nice and simple
with just a glint of a metallic rim.
We'll put our glitzy handmade pumpkins at each place not only to
add some glitter, but to act as placecards.
A little Dollar Tree table scatter adds some more Autumnal jewel-like shine.
Playful and formal all at once.
Finally, glass dollar store nut dishes fill in for bread plates,
while white Asian leaf sauce dishes meant for soy and wasabi
will get a small pat of butter popped out of a silicone pumpkin-shaped ice tray.
See you guys next Thursday at 3:00 for appetizers...
oh, wait, what am I thinking?
We'll be back tomorrow!

Fabulous tablescape. So grown-up and glamorous.
PS. I love that you also have a cat that enjoys the table too. I can just imagine that cat parties that happen on the top of my diningroom table while I'm at work.
Simply beautiful, Sunny! I think you've outdone yourself this time!
