The Great Glitzy Hack Off...in PURPLE

I've been down with the flu.
Too sick to even participate in my own Hack Off.
But did that stop you guys?
Oh heck no!!!
On our latest trip to Z Gallerie, I spotted this gorgeous little place setting.
I fell madly in love.
Evidently, so did Gail from Purple Hues & Me!
She made her own version using those luscious smelling cinnamon pine cones...
 ...Dollar Tree bleach...
 ...and so.much.GLITTER.
We like glitter.
 Lots of it.
And of course, the color she's known for, purple.
Like all the details on this luxe looking project?
Go visit Gail for the full tute!
And keep hacking, my Besties!

The Great Glitzy Hack Off Begins!

So who wants to start the Great Glitzy Hack Off?
Yep, we're ready, and here's our fist super simple arrangement.
Owl get us started.!
I fell in love with these little feathered morsels at West Elm.
The twig candelabra was also inspiring,
so we got busy and shopped the house to combine owls and light.
In a cruelty-free manner, mind you.
We'll start with the light part.
A quick jar candle tucked inside a cylinder vase is an easy way to start.
And for filler?
This is very inexpensive wired ribbon from Dollar General.
Cut lengths of it...
...and crumple it slightly.
Wind it around the candle inside the cylinder.

I added twigs and sprays of shimmery silk Fall leaves to a vase.
Foe a crowning touch, my little Grumpulence Owls from last Winter reappeared!
There we go!
Now grab a button and show us what YOU did!

Let There Be Light! And Some Pumpkins

Get your motors running, Besties, the Great Glitzy Hack Off is days away!
How easy is this?
Super simple.
Take one of our inspiration photos from last week's shopping extravaganza...
 ...and make it your own!
 Suit yourself.
It doesn't have to be exact.
 It has to be YOU.
I did this little arrangement on my antique steamer trunk coffee table.
I added apple cinnamon candles because I love the glow of flickering light in the evening.
This is all on a raised cinnabar hued tray from Home Goods so it can be
whisked away for Movie Night, Minion Gaggle Gaming, or Mom's Killer Nachos.
Most of my little glazed beauties are from Dollar Tree.
No one said this had to be expensive.
I also scattered a $1 bag of silk leaves in for texture, and Ned Starked beheaded some sunflower
bushes to add to the mix.
Now mind you, this was assembled by shopping the house.
There is not one new item in this hot mess.
A zero budget is still a hack.
A little height adds some visual interest.
Now get busy!
Grab the hack button!
You have 6 days before the competition begins!
We're going to do this for two weeks, and at the end,
ONLY my readers (not me) will be eligible for....
READY?
Your choice of ANYTHING from my Etsy Store, Tropiglam!
Now are you inspired?
Go.
Find your inner glitter!

The Warning Signs of Halloween

It's that time of year when spider webs loose their gossamer quality and become....
just...well....creepy.
Candy gets a weird transformation as well.
Bag of blood anyone?
So while the dew in the silken structures overhead
was giving me the most delicious chills (I love a good scare!)...
...Savannah and I were at Deals, a Dollar Tree subsidiary,
picking up macabre goodies for the festivities at hand.
Allow us to ensnare you this week.
The house got decked over the weekend in all of our finery.
Essentially, we needed to see where we had space for some hacks!
So this week, we'll be doing some Roundups of LIR's past chilling projects.
We'll also show you a few of our fresh ideas.
But in no way are we showing our hands as far as our hacking plans!
That tidbit will remain secret!.
Okay, you know the rules:
choose an example from last week's Shopping posts, or use them to inspire you,
make it, post it on your blog, link it with my button,
and leave a comment so we can all come and see!
Every couple of days, I'll swipe your photos and do a round up
of everyone's projects linking back to your blog!
With 1000 hits a day over here, it's a good opportunity to make some new friends
while you brighten up your digs.
Let's get to HACKING!!!
We certainly will be!
Now...we have a Shopping Alert to round this out.
This gorgeous, glittery pumpkin is from Deals.
With a spangled spider and a luxe web, it's a great addition to any display.
The best part, all this glitz is a frickin' steal at $3!
Surround it with your own glimmering gourds and you have a great centerpiece.
It also comes in other colors.
How big is it?
Our model, Samwow, is 6 feet tall, so pretty substantial in size.
No Deals near you?
I've got you covered, Besties;
They have online shopping too!
Now grab that button and let's get Spooky!
