One surefire way to know your coworkers read your blog?
They drop off garbage on your desk.
Bridget figured there was SOMETHING I could do with her empty snack jars.
25 ounce sturdy plastic jars with a screw on lid? Yeah, I have some ideas.
It just took a couple of months to get to it...
First, a good washing and some Goo Gone to get all of the glue off from the label.
Then we'll take a scrap of decorative paper and draw a circle large enough to cover the lid top and sides.
Cut it out, obviously
Smear some Mod Podge on the lid and smooth the paper over it, folding it down over the sides.
Slather more Mod Podge over the paper and pleat the sides while they're wet. Cut a lttle ribbon the circumference of the lid.
Put the ribbon around the lid and Mod Podge over it. Don't worry about any excess paper overhang; We'll trim that down later.
My jar had a freshness date on it, so I opted to take some thicker aqua ribbon and wrap it around to hide it.
Then we'll made a quick bow by hot gluing a loop and flattening it...
...and gluing a smaller loop around that.Slide some thinner ribbon through that, attach a tag, and knot. The knot will slip right out of sight.
Hot glue that on top of the band of ribbon on the jar.
Now we're ready to fill it! I use really pretty ribbons for my packages. I have a serious crush on wire edged in fact. And once the gift is opened, believe me, I snag that ribbon and put it right back in the craft cabinet. But they were a jumbled mess and just jammed in a coffee can.
So we're going to sit down and fold all of those shimmering little lengths and paper clip them neatly.
Now I know what I've got to work with.
Yes, those are my Christmas colors too. Would you have expected anything else?
