So a few empty boxes made me one step closer to an organized home office. You're going to need:
Some boxes
Spray paint
Ribbon
Scissors
Hot glue
A measuring tape
A marker
Labels or tags
A straight edge. I recycled an envelope.
First, find a cereal box large enough to hold magazines. Measure 4" from the bottom on the right hand side of the box and mark it. Make a similar mark on the back. Measure 3" across the top of the box on the left, mark it, and do the same on the back.
Using a straight edge, draw a line diagonally connecting your marks front and back, then connect the two marks near the bottom of the box across the side. Cut along your lines, and cut off the top flaps of the box.
To make a desk organizer. take three smaller boxes and cut them in a stair step.
Take all of your pieces outside and spray paint them a desired color. I used a gloss black, weighting the boxes with river rock so they wouldn't go sailing in the breeze. Again. Yes, I came up with this idea after chasing them down.
Once dry, hot glue some ribbon to the edges as trim.
Then liberally hot glue the boxes together.
Trim your magazine file in ribbon and label or tag it.
And there you have it. So far, I've used nothing but a little paint and leftover ribbon. I'll concede a totally cool receipt of $3.

Well thank you, Kelly! That's much appreciated from someone as creative as you.
I love how you keep making your own swanky storage boxes out of free leftover materials. That's something I've done just a few times, but you are reminding me to keep doing it! :)
Totally genius! Love it!

I love spray paint and the transformations it can provide. I love the colors you chose too. They look amazing. Thanks for sharing them at We're Organized Wednesday.
