Our friend Peter, who is a licensed contractor, popped by the house during a day of deconstruction to find that the workers had removed our doors, circa 1927, and had loaded them onto a truck bound for the dumpster. After a small outburst of displeasure, he loaded the doors with their original crystal knobs into his Tundra and took them into protective custody.
THIS is what we got back after his rehab treatments in his workshop:
Would you believe these were IN the fire rooms? He's amazing. Total props, Peter. And Joy, we appreciate the loan of your husband and all of your trips back and forth in moral support.

We have similar doors in our home, and I just LOVE them. The original doors, knobs, and trim were actually a huge reason we bought the house.
Yay, Peter!
