After Sam's Teacher of the Year luncheon, we decided to do a little mall strolling at the Galleria in Fort Lauderdale. I was swept into an amazing store called Artifacto that was just purely fabulous home design. Since I take even worse pictures with my cell phone, I didn't bother, but one floral arrangement had me circling back around. It was in a tall cylandrical vase with black river rock, tropical leaves, orchids, and curly willow. I took a deep breath. I turned the price tag over.
$200...
So instead I went home and cannibalized three arrangements I wasn't nuts about!

I started with a pair of elephant

ear leaves, cutting one a tad shorter, then inserted two towering orchid stems from IKEA. The curly willow was poked in next. Fluff, arrange, done! With my favorite price tag: FREE.
Sometimes it's just a matter of digging through what you already have and using it in a different way.

Hey, that's my old 'hood! Too bad I don't live there anymore -- we could have gone shopping together.
Pretty arrangement!

Thanks Kelly! I knew from your blog that you were formerly a South Floridian. That mall is so quirky and has the oddest things, which I really liked.
And yeah, I get the feeling you'd be a blast to hang out with.
