Painted Pumpkins, Our Way

Ready to add some more Fall color, ala Rehab?  Me too, let's do it!
You may have noticed my home is not built on neutrals, and therefore changing the whole color scheme to orange would clash like Kanye West and an etiquette class.
Like Paris Hilton and MENSA.
Like the Olson Twins and Weight Watchers.
You get the idea.
One container of mini pumpkins from Joanns, 40% off, so they ran us $6.

A little painter's tape on the stems. I'm okay with them staying a natural color.

Place them in a box and get out the aqua spray paint. You heard me. Aqua. And why not?
Who says your colors have to change with the seasons?
Three coats please, and a little silver glitter sprinkled over the last coat whilst it's still wet.

What accent color in your living room would be fun like this?

Remove the painter's tape with just a tug.

Then place a Dollar Tree cylinder vase inside a larger one, add a candle...
...and place your pumpkins in the space.
 Ladies and Gentleman, Seaside Fall.

Light the candle and enjoy the shimmer.
How easy was this?
You want to do it, don't you?
Even my husband, who was very skeptical when he saw the sea of blue, thinks it's a cool little twist.

Sunny, this is so gorgeous! I had no idea where you were going...thought it was going to be a garland. I utterly adore it: the color, the project, and fantastic photos. Mini aqua punkins, wheeee!

Sunny!
I love this idea! I too, am not a orangy scheme person and this is a terrific idea to add the idea of fall without having to change your entire decor! Love the glitter and totally got a laugh out of your comparisons!

I wasn't so sure about aqua, but dayyyum those puppies came out cute!

Now that is so clever and I love the look. Why not aqua pumpkins. I have seen them in every color. Love your creativity. Gorgeous. Hugs, Marty

Totally works with your color scheme! You know I have heard you can actually get real blue pumpkins these days...

You are so fuuny. Love the Paris Hilton one.

Your photos turned out nice. Nice effect with the pumpkins, I had never thought about changing the color.

Have a good weekend...I am having another cookbook giveaway if you are interested.

Funny AND creative. I love everything about you except where you live. I can't believe you don't want to pick up and move to Iowa. Well, maybe I can. :) But hey we do have the Hawkeyes and I am here. Just think about it.

I have the problem. Orange isn't a great look for me or my house. Christmas comes in all colors so why not Halloween?

Be a sweetie and link this up Sunday night or next week at Motivated Monday.

Hugs and have a great weekend.

I adore these!!! I want to make some in white with German Glass Glitter. I love the aqua but it hasn't {YET} made it's way into my decor. Thanks so much for the inspiration. I found you at It's So Very Cheri and am following you now. I'd love it if you stopped by sometime.

Hugs,

That is very brave(in a good way)! I love the aqua with the glitter, and like that you picked a color that isn't really done for halloween:) Terrific job! I am always glad to stop over and see what you all have done here:)

Ohh Sunny, I would love a tour of your home. I've seen blue a lot and can only imagine where all these fit in the large scale of things. I love your take on things, and how you can totally see outside the box. Again, would have never thought Blue for pumpkins, but CLEARLY it works, and works well. Great job, I really like it, and that little touch of glitter, was perfect. Thanks for sharing over at my party **6 weeks 2 Spook**, you know I am so excited with all the fun projects on there. Now the key is to START doing some, lol. I don't have 6 weeks left anymore, lol, and I yet have a HUGE party to plan for my princess. Oh man!!! Thanks again, Bella :)

Thank you. Just perfect. When I was a full time floral designer it drove me nuts when I had to add orange. This is one great project.
But to be perfectly honest, I'm still on the Kanye/etiquette - Paris/Mensa intro. Too damn funny!

Would love for you to stop by Sunday and link up to Passion for Paint!

I LOVE this! Very pretty! And the glitter is the perfect accessory to your aqua pumpkins!

P.S. Orange doesn't look so great in my home either!

Oooo-la-la!!! The aqua punkins are just adorable and soooo chic! Fabulous idea but the aqua wouldn't go very well in my house - my colors are reds, sherbert orange, granny smith apple green, sunflower yellow and turquoise - I've got some serious color going on, don't I?! :-)

I love your blog and I'm now a follower. I found you from The Chabby Chic Cottage!

How cute! And I totally agree that you don't necessarily have to change the whole color scheme just because orange and black are Halloween colors. Your project turned out so great!

LOVE this. My whole house is sort of "beach glass" inspired, and these would fit in perfectly. Always wondered how to incorporate Halloween into our non-orange decor!
