Fake-Corns

Acorn Vase Filler $14.00

Seasonal nuts from the harvest lend the appeal of healthy abundance to holiday displays.
  • Each acorn is made of plastic, painted for an authentic look and has a real acorn top.
  • Set of 54 acorns.
...or Walmart. $3 a bag. Thanks to Tana at Orange it Lovely for tipping me off to this incredible steal!
Plastic body, real acorn hat.
In a word, fake-corns.
Fine with me.
Yes, they're very pretty "natural."
But you people KNOW better.

So haul these babies outside and get the white gloss Krylon.
Yes, yes I did.
And I'd do it again too!
Now that those are dry, what do you say we beach up the Thanksgiving vibe, eh?
Ignore the lame attempt at a backdrop. Our special effects budget is a little light.
It's going to be a white Autumn here.
When you get to start over, you get to do whatever you want!

Whatcha think?

Very stylish and elegant! Good job spraying them white, they look a million bucks now! And the clear accents do beautiful stuff to the light.

I think they look great painted and are perfect in your display. I've got a huge bowl of real ones from my backyard that might have to get that treatment.
Laughed out loud about your special effects budget...I needed that on an early Wed. morning.

Wow, I love it. I am so impressed with how organized you are to be getting ready for the next occasion already.

Great minds think alike, I used the same for some Etsy items.

Oooohhhh and ahhhh!! Love the elegant white fake-corns! Usually my deck in covered in acorns and I just curse them for stabbing my bare feet as I walk out there, next year I'll be collecting them!

Wow.... what a hot tip! These are fabulous au naturel and white. Wonder if we have them in our Wal*Marts up here??? We don't have many oak trees but everything we do have is covered in white. Dang snow. :)

Walmart is not my most favorite place to go, but I am going to have to go now! Those acorns are great!

Hmmm...that is quite lovely. But it does make me wonder who's job it is to gather those little acorn tops!

Love your fakecorns! Too funny! Great idea to paint them, they would be pretty with glitter, too! But then, I am addicted to glitter:)

Life in Rehab said...

They're actually acrylic, and they were in bags of 30 at Dollar Tree! RUN!

Oh My Goodness!!!! You are the only person I have seen do this and so you get the gold star for creativity today! This is one craft that even I can do and I love how you gave them such pizazz with only a little bit of paint! I also love the glass ones and saw in the above comment that you got them at Dollar Tree so I am going get my rear over there pronto! :-)
Thanks so much for linking this fabulousness to the party!

They look very nice. We have two Oak trees out front of our house so I have no need for fakecorns! But, I have been considering painting the real ones. Now that I see you have done it with success perhaps I will try it.

Funny gal!! Love these painted!

We have the real thing here, but they seem to shed their tops and pellet unsuspecting cars before I can get ahold of any. Love your idea.

I love it! Such a nice twist on traditional fall decor! Wish I had oak trees here, but I don't.... I did find real acorns online at www.curiouscountrycreations.com. I just might have to get some :)

You did it again! This is such a different look. I really like it...and those glowy ones really amp up the shiny white!

Clever mix of color and texture here!

I need these! Looks like I am heading to WalMart (not my favorite store) so I really must like these to go!

Super adorable! Fake-corns are better than real acorns. (Did you hear about how using real acorns in a project can leave you with tons of maggots? Eek! No thank you!)

Love the beachy-themed fall decorations.

Ann @ makethebestofthings said...

You just crack me up and your creativity is wonderful. I've been trying to find shapes of ordinary household things to make HUGE acorns just to see if I can pull it off. I'll post if I do. Love your ideas! Keep on rehabbing!

Rose :: FineCraftGuild.com said...

Thank you for contributing these to FineCraftGuild's DIY Craft Tutorial linky party. Hope to see you back this coming Wednesday with some new crafty ideas.

Btw. I am all for SOULFUL IDEAS, and if you found you've made something creative that helped your rehab, for instance, I would so welcome this, even if it's an older post.

Have a lovely creative week!
