House Tour: Antique Icebox

I remember the auction. It was in an old tobacco barn. I was no older than seven, and the chickens running through the yard were fascinating to me. My mother, however, was peering into stalls and dusting off pieces that were catching her eye, like spinning wheels and crockery. The woman had an knack for old bottles and milk glass, oxen yolks and tavern signs. She was 27, still a young bride, scuttering about decorating our Cape Cod style North Carolina cottage with things gleaned on the cheap. She tugged me along behind her.
Wonder where I get it?

This piece has had a lot of roles since it came home that day. It's served as a linen closet, a bar, and now as a laptop storage and charging station.
It's always nice when a piece you grew up with becomes a part of your home and your life.

Great story and really neat chest. Now, which paint did you choose? I like the one on the left (since you asked, not:).

You can definitely say you come by it honestly!

Such a sweet story, I have similar memories of my mom. Love that!

That is a very nice piece! What a sweet story about you and your mom...the apple really doesn't fall too far from the tree does it? That old fan is great! Have a good day.

Heather, ready for this? We're trying a third color today, Behr's Japanese Fern. We haven't found anything we really love yet. Vannah and I poured over chips yesterday; we also can't decide if we just want an accent wall or if we want to do the whole room. But we're getting close!

Sherri, would you believe the fan is brand new?

Ladies, thank you for the lovely comments and for stopping by!

That is super cool.
No pun intended. Really, I swear. Although now that I see the pun in it, I'm pretty impressed with myself. :)

Hey, on Facebook it says that Color Splash: Miami is having a casting call for homes in the Miami area...you know, you should apply. Include your blog post about the fire, which was totally hilarious, and I bet that'd get you a good consideration for the show!

I LOVE IT. I had a heart attack when I read the first comment, thinking you were painting that piece. Then I got un-blonded and realized she was talking about the paint samples on the wall. WHEW!!!

This piece is to-die-for. It would go really well with my little china hutch... I just blogged about it for Favorite Things Friday tomorrow. Come join the party!

That is just awesome. It makes me think of my parents. They had an icebox obsession for awhile...only 2 remain...I am taking one when they are done with it.

I promise, promise, promise never to paint anything if it will ruin the looks or the value!

Saudi Arabia Experts Company
It is normal to put furniture in our homes as if it will remain forever. We carefully arrange bedroom furniture, kitchen cabinets, air conditioners, washing machines and dishes. The time and effort required by the transfer, and the expected risk of furniture on the other hand, but all of this may apply to the usual methods of moving furniture or managing furniture alone, but it can end entirely with a specialized furniture transfer company.
