New Year's in Rehab

New Year's Eve at Chateau Inferno is a quiet affair. We prefer to make merry amongst our own and stay out of the insane South Florida traffic. I like to refer to the whole thing as "Amateur Night."
For those of you that love recipes, as do I:
1 gallon apple cider
2 blood oranges, sliced thin and halved
2 lemons, sliced thin
1 tablespoon of ginger
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of cloves
Simmer for an hour. Enjoy the aroma. This cures the common cold, seriously.
We roasted a little garlic for bread spread.
(Cover and bake, trying to control yourself.)
Fed my mother enough of this to waylay the germs that were attempting to scale her castle walls.
We sauteed some creminis.
 Got out the reveling beverages.
Oh, and the ones for the adults.

Including the one for the hubs. A bottle of asti to myself? Oh, drat!
Rub down the steaks...
 ...ignite a little fire...
 ...and let's sit down!
My children all hate asparagus. I'm good with that.

Cheers and blessings to all as we enter 2011.
Thank you for being a huge part of who we are.
We appreciate and love each and every one of you.

Sunny, your spread looks incredible. Gosh, those steaks, and mushrooms, and garlic, oh and asparagus, and lobster claws, lol, oh man, can I come for dinner sometime, or is this a new years only meal, :)

We also celebrate all these holidays with close family ONLY. We have never gone out to do anything crazy or wild, I hate the idea of being out driving on a day like that, you know all those wild ones are out on the loose, no offense wild ones, PLUS I would never dream of leaving my kids with a sitter, while I am off celebrating, he he. Thus, we chill like you, however us Romanians, are often dancing, and playing Hungarian cards, till the wee hours of the morning, he he.

I wish you and the ENTIRE chateau inferno a VERY happy New YEAR, filled with much happiness, LOVE, and health. !!!

Bella :)

Oh and did you see my 3 months FREE ad space I am offering my lovely peeps, you should come enter, I am picking 2 lucky winners, FREE advertising, is always a good thing right?

More delicious food! I love roasted garlic! It all looked amazing! We stay in as well but didn't do any fancy spread this year. What a special night!

Sunny, you and I are living parallel lives I think. This post made me laugh, because -

1. We stay in every year on NYE although we rolled down the hill next door to mom's this year for a few hours (It's also the hubs b-day)
2. We had oysters, bacon wrapped filet, lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus (which my children destest, but the hubby loves)
3. Beer and Champagne. What more could you want??

It's nice to know that if I ever got stuck in Florida over the holidays I could just invite myself to your house and feel right at home - ha! :)

Very festive Sunny. I had plans to make Syllabub but was way too tired so went to bed at 12:05. Yawn I am so boring.

Cures the common cold, huh? What about the PLAGUE? That's what my whole household has. (Even the Furbabies!)

Thanks for the recipe! Even if it doesn't work, it sounds like something I would like anyways. :)
