I like personal care items stored in clean, sealed containers. Who doesn't? With Mom home, I need to make that happen, so let's grab a few items and cobble together a decorative place to house her cotton swabs.
Sure, we could just use a pickle jar, but where's the fun in that?
You will need:
A canning jarTwo NEGLINGE candleholders from IKEA, $0.49 each
Some ribbon
A leftover drawer knob
A painted sea shell
Some silicon adhesive
Enough wine to make this seem like a good idea.
First, we're going to glue the two portions of the lid together. You can skip this step if you're using
a jar with a solid lid.
Aren't you glad I told you that?
Don't worry about the mess.
We're going to make more.
Set one of the candle holders on the adhesive smeared all over the lid.
Put more sticky stuff on the top of that.
Attach your drawer knob.
Then the shell as a decorative element.
Flip the jar over and glue the other candle holder to the bottom of it as a pedestal.
Lastly, trim the lid with a little ribbon for color.
Allow everything to dry, fill your jar, and enjoy that this ran you some scraps and a dollar.
That was easy! I think we need a couple more.

That's the most decorative Qtip jar I've ever seen! I'd love to see a few of them grouped together. Super cay-ute!
Yay!!! Now I know what to do with all the mason jars in the basement :) I can't wait to try this!
I'm lovin that, you are the queen of thinking outside the box. Keep making life beautiful.
This is 'hands down' the most elegant utility container I have ever seen ~ wow!
My favorite part of your project is the wine but that's just me. My husband wont' let me drink and DIY. I have to wait until the project is finished.
Who would have thouht!!! You are so clever. I love it. Now I need to make one. Hugs, Marty
What a great idea! I love apothecary jars, but they can be a bit expensive. Will have to give this a try!
So creative. Nicely done.
Awesome Sunny! My kind of project(surplus of jars!)!
Where do you come up with all of these awesome ideas for things that normally would not go together? Do you dream about these things when you are sleeping? LOL
Awesome storage solution Sunny.
I thought of you throughout my marathon shopping day off from work because Emma wasn't in school. We hit all your favorite stores and I even made more snow drinks this evening to reward myself for surviving. Great apothecary jar.
I don't see any wine.
Great project idea! I like how it turned out. I wasn't sure how the second candle holder fit in, but I like the idea of using it as a base.

sooo creative and so your style great job!
These are fab, love them!
OOOH! Never have I seen something so cute from a basic Ball canning jar! That's original and adorable and I luve it!
I love you right? but I've got to say that looks like a lot of work for Q-tips. I say finish the bottle of wine put some candles in those candle holders and set them next to the tub and and just throw those suckers in the mason jar and call it done. so you can go soak in the scented sudsy and toast your awesomeness and ingenuity. :)
Regardless. Thanks you you sweet thing for posting on BeColorful. You always make me smile.
