A few months back, while I was out shopping, I ran across this arrangement and just LOVED it.
But I also knew the holidays were around the corner, and I already had plans.
So when it came time last weekend to pack these bad sparkly boys in a ziplock,
I broke out the tub of leveling sand.
(Note: leveling sand is super inexpensive at the hardware store, and it beats the heck out of those little decorator bags they sell at craft stores for $3.)

I shopped the house for things on hand that could be reused.
One large cylinder vase, one slim Dollar Tree vase, some silk orchids, sand, and
One large cylinder vase, one slim Dollar Tree vase, some silk orchids, sand, and
scattered shells later, we had this for the coffee table.
The candle is safely in the smaller vase so I can actually LIGHT this.
What a concept.
And as long as we have clean, empty vases, why not?
Any excuse to play in the sand, right?
Now this may not be brain surgery, but it does lighten the place up.
If you don't have smaller vases, jar candles will keep your arrangement safe to light and mess free.
I decided to keep some of the silver shells on display as well for a little touch of shine.
I like the height it gives the cabinet.
And the glass tree frogs have a newly decorated home.

Very pretty and it certainly feels very tropical...especially while we are buried under snow.
Oh it all looks wonderful. So pretty. Hugs, Marty
It all turned out very nice. I like that you left the silver shell and added the branches.
Sweet. Want to play in the snow? I will send you some!
These are great! I wonder if it would work with snow. Hahaha, just kidding. I have snow on the brain today in NY. Playing in the sand sounds much more fun! Have a great day!
Very Pretty!
Pretty! I love the sand idea, and am still in love with your frogs and branches. So pretty!
Also, the vase-in-a-vase idea is genious. Who wants a candle centerpiece you can't light?

Great idea - I love the sand idea too!!
The first one is my fave, but the branches are doin' it for me, too. Makes me feel warmer already! (It is BELOW freezing here!)

Such great ideas to use candles and sand. My favorite is the one with the flowers.
Like the idea of the sand and candles. Very pretty. Please add a link to my blog party. Thanks.
The arrangement really draws the eye up! I love the candles in the arrangements.
Hi Sunny! I LOVE how that orchid looks in there and I'm sure it is just beautiful all lit up. I was thinking how perfect that would be for a beach-themed party centerpiece. The flower adds just the right soft touch. Thanks so much for linking this up to Inspiration Friday this week!
