Before: Paint Details, Details, Details

Still a little foggy as to what's going on at Chateau Inferno?
Here's the official Before Photos with all the color swatches so you can mentally prepare yourself for the horror that is my taste.
This hallway separated the Maid's Quarters from the main home. To the right of this view is the dining room, and there are two entrances that had doors. To the left is a bedroom and bathroom, and to the left behind this view is the kitchen

We're going to use this space as our Command Center, with a magnetic board, a place to put papers to be signed, a calendar, and a cork board. For the magnet board, we'll be using this:
Pretty cool, huh?
And then we'll paint over the whole shebang with this:
Brilliant Sea
Don't be scared yet! I had that hallway a bright color before the fire set off with gloss white,
and it was fantastic.
Next up is the dining room! We've hemmed and hawed about shades of green for months, and we finally settled on the one that solidly frightened my mother the most.
You know what? That's really still fun to do, even at 50.

So these three walls are going to be saturated with this:
Japanese Fern
Love it with the turquoise.
The wall with the garden bag though...
...this wall right here? We're going to get crazy and use this:
Relax, I have a plan.

Now step into my living room.
The color we're using in here is actually splashed up on that sliver of wall to the left of the blue cabinet.
See it?
I think a barely there whisper of gray-blue with white trim will create a relaxing entrance and family area.

So for this area, we'll be using this:
Coastal Mist
Watery and soft.
Now, about THAT thing in the corner...
We're going to try a coat of white paint on this thing and see if that fixes my eyesore woes in this corner, then put down the terra cotta tile that we chose for the back door as a hearth.
If that isn't adequate, I have a plan B.
It does not involve explosives.
The downstairs bathroom has this stunning bubble wallpaper
that melted to the walls in some places, is curling off in others,
and took extensive soot and water damage.
In case you're wondering, I chose it and loved it in the space.

Charming, huh?
We're going to share our cocktail for turning flambéed wallpaper into scrapable sludge too.
Once that's done, the walls in this room will get a couple coats of this color:
Sea Glass
Won't that be cool against the white tile and woodwork?
*Cue the raised eyebrows*
Okay, yeah, I caught myself in a photo and thought it was funny.

I'm just so flippin' photogenic, huh? Hey, it's a tiny bathroom.
That cabinet behind me will also be getting a fresh coat of paint...
...because this is what it looks like AFTER a scrubbing with Simple Green. It was worse.

This vintage porch light I have in the shower has to come down and get a little love too.
Any of you who would like to buzz by with a bottle of wine and a paint brush, I am not too proud to take volunteers.
EVER.

Seriously, if I weren't clear across the country, I'd be there, looks like a ton of fun(said soberly), and if you can laugh at yourself like that, imagine how much fun I'd have laughing at you! Did that all come out right? You know what I mean, good times, good times. I love the colors that you have chosen, and I know that it will all look fab-u-lous when you are done!

The green that frightened your mom is the same color our daughter and son-in-law put on their living room walls, in a tradtional setting with all leather seating...it turned out fabulous. I must admit I would have been so afraid if I had seen it before it went up...All of your color choices will look so refreshing together.

1) Love those pics of the cat outside. I miss Florida.
2) The bright colors may be wacky for some, but I think they're perfect for you and your seaside style - and super cheerful! How could you be depressed in a bright green, blue, and oceanic home?
3) I can't wait to see the results, and for some reason I'm so stoked about your work that you even have me wishing I lived close enough to help! I have a feeling that you and I and some good wine could get a lot done! :)

Yay another Floridian blogger! Even if I hadn't seen you on 3 Sunkissed Boys I would have known from the pictures of the fog. :) Anyway, I'm quite envious of your historic home. I'll probably be purchasing a house within the next year and I definitely want an oldie - work and all. This post was pretty inspiring. Thanks!

I'd come help, but..umm.. I'm a little far away for that. But I love your color choices. I can't wait til we buy a house, so I can paint our walls whatever color I want.

LOVE the Japanese Fern color. We have a very similar color used as an accent wall in my craft room! It just screams creativity! Thank you for linking up to Sew Woodsy!

My goodness but you have lots and lots of work and I am so impressed that you have picked out all of the colors...I always fixate on this. I think it is going to be a fun, fresh look and just right for you. The white accents should bring it all together. This is going to be so much fun to see when you are done.(-: Super.
