Inspiration Point: Sur La Table

People ask me how I talk my children into doing stuff with us. I'd love to pass on some sage advice as to how we've made our company as attractive as their peers, but there just isn't any. The truth is, we've just never done things apart. We vacation together, go out together, plan together, and have dinner together every night. The only time Sam and I venture out solo is when the kids have their own plans.

One of our favorite things to do is take them to a grown up store and ask them to share whatever catches their eye. It's a great way to learn and guide their taste.
For this trip, we started at gourmet kitchen store extraordinaire, Sur La Table
"Top quality cookware and kitchen tools satisfy the growing demands from culinary pros and home chefs."
And what did the Minions find?

How about silicon cow pot holders?
Little known fact: Savannah makes the best whole wheat cookies on the planet.
Sammy's logo is a smiley face. I think this could be a little terrifying in large doses, don't you?
But it WOULD look great with the rainbow selection of small appliances they were all ogling.
Do you get the feeling that my Ringling Brothers decorating style is rubbing off?
Something tells me first apartments will be fun.
We all love steel cookie cutters.
Okay, to be fair, this WILL go with the appliances.
*Dreaming of the world's largest steak, ham and bacon omelet smothered in Spam*
Fo' swizzle, my peeps. Did I mention there's a few guitars around here?
Awesome suction cup glass markers, because we never use disposables for parties.
And...a sock monkey bottle cover????
Finger food, anyone? Sorry, I couldn't hold back.
Ohhhhh, the Halloween party goodness! In a convenient 13 pack, no less.
How did we NOT have light up skull drink accents before???

Yes, I bought it for her. Hey, there are cupcakes in my future, so it was win-win.
How else does one time creepy treats?
But for those of you who don't have such strange taste, there's also less evil version.

I hope you enjoyed a little tour of one of our favorite haunts. We have one more place to share tomorrow, so please do drop in for Sunday coffee.

Meanwhile, are we gonna have some fun stuff to share with you guys next week!

Love the cow oven mitts. My neighbor has duck ones and I cannot help but giggle every time she puts them on. You have wonderful parenting tips! ♥O

God, I love those kids! They are just my favourite kind of weird.
My Mum came over to England to see me a few weeks ago, and she brought me a spider catcher (darn thing actually works, spider lives to tell the tale) and a stuffed- toy cricket key ring. I got her an inflatable cat. She, in return, went to the charity shop and got me a snail snow globe. Then we fought over a satin-scarf-turned-blouse- kinda thing. I won. She will get it for Xmas.
There's nothing like being best friends with your kids (or parents), I reckon. And if there are cupcakes to be had, it must be heaven on earth. (well, she made us stuffed cabbage, the next best thing. For ex- pat germans.)

Hi Sunny, found you in Marty's blog and thought I need to see what you were in Rehab for.I am also one who loves to take one persons junk and make it into treasure. I am a firm believer that God is a recycler and we should be also. Only my kind of recycle is to turn it into art.
Anyway I would like to first of all say I am sorry to hear about your house burn out. I am so glad you have risen from the ashes and that none of your family were lost in the fire. I always think how God promised to give us beauty for ashes. Hope your beauty comes sooner than you expect.
Personally I am with Sammy I don't think you can have too many smiley faces. In fact they are some what, one of my secret taps on the shoulder that tells me something good is on the horizon. So when I popped over here to your blog and saw the smiley I had to smile and say a little thanks you. Thanks for the little taste of color through your tour.
I too am living in England like 'lisbonlioness' (I will pop over to her site next)
Oh and although my mom is now in the realm of the light brigade (no longer on planet earth) I remember all the crazy pranks and gifts we used to pass back and forth and all the fun I had having her as one of my all time best friends. So glad you guys still have yours here enjoy them.
Now I get to do the same with my boy Evan my youngest son. We have been playing what we call the "Poo on You game" where we hide fake poop in each others things and when one person finds it the other has to say "Poo Poo Poo on You" and then it starts all over again. The last time was about a month ago, when I hid the poop in his things. He is yet to find it, now I have no idea where I put it so who knows when it will be found. LOL (Hope I didn't gross you out or make you think this chick is a bit touched) My motto is if you can't have fun in life than what's the use...
Thanks again hope you will pop into my blog and if you would become a fellow following friend I would be honored.

OOPS had to delete two of the posts because it said it was too large to post so I tried to cut it down then saw that it did post so if you were wondering that's why it says that two posts were deleted.
