Sunflowers have always been a favorite of mine. One of these days, I'll scan photos of the living room from the 90's and really scare you. Until then, here's one of my canisters from the same era.
A little worse for the years in the humidity, sure.
The real problem came via Feline Overlord mischief.
Well, fine, but it's not hitting the trash just yet. I started by removing the hardware
that snapped the lid onto base.
The rest of it was a cinch. No screws, it just all slid apart.
I'm considering setting this on contact paper and smashing it for a mosaic piece.
Once all the hardware was off, I just cleaned up where the collar had been...
...and grabbed a bouquet of sunflowers!
How's that for a little Fall touch for the kitchen?
I think it made a great little vase for free, and I especially like not throwing it away.
So what have you saved from the landfill recently?

Love the sunflower vingette in the kitchen! mmmhh...what have I saved from the landfill lately...lots of stuff for the teen's room..just spraypainted an outdoor table for her.
Smart!
OMG, beautiful! I NEVER would have thought to remove the hardware, but duh! Take that, feline overlords.
this is awesome idea... the next time I am at the thrift store I will be hunting some canisters that could be vases instead!
Thank you, Ladies! Hmmmmm, maybe I've started something...
I can't wait to share what I saved from the landfill. Let's just say some of the trash from my bedroom redesign became...PART of the bedroom redesign! :)
Bring it on, Sista! You know that's my favorite stuff!
Great fix!
Love it! Sunflowers with blue is one of my favorite combos. Great save!
WOnderful, and so colorful. I love it, and your little tool thing is so cute too. :)
Love this canister and how wonderful to give it a new life. Perfect. Thanks so much for linking to TTT. Hugs, Marty
Makes a great vase! I love sunflowers too! We grew the mammoth ones this year and they looked amazing in bloom. Thanks for linking up!
Now it's perfect!
AWESOME job, I probably wouldn't have even thought to try that.
