Hiding a Shelf End

Those recycled Pier 1 bookcases I have looked a million times better after Thom painted them all black, but the sides are still open, so a mess of clutter is visible in the entrance of my Florida room.

I use seagrass baskets to corral  things like paperbacks, so those are butted up against the open edge to provide texture and a clean line.
I then nailed a picture hanging hook horizontally to the shelf
Taking advantage of the holes worn in this shell, I wove aqua ribbon through it, and looped it through the sawtooth hanger on the back of a frame of a print that was just wide and long enough to conceal the open end of the shelf.
I liked that little beachy touch that coordinated with everything else I was doing...
...because my husband also lives here, and sometimes we don't quite see eye to eye in the accessories department.
Hey, it's not a show house, it's a home.

Great idea!! The wolves made me smile as MY husband has a picture of a cowboy in the woods in winter that HAS to be the focal point at the top of the stairs! (My husband is a city boy...nothing country about him, but he LOVES that print...loving the boys!)
smiles!

I'm right there with you. Sam's idea of roughing it is black and white TV, but the woods facinate him...so wolves it is.
