Household Tip
How NOT to store wrapping paper...
As a general rule of thumb, anything wound around Emo or Phat Stuff is a bad idea.
So About Last Night...
Seriously?
Seriously???
SERIOUSLY?
SERIOUSLY?
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!
I have one question...
Does ANYONE have Ty Pennington on speed dial?
$%^&@#*@!!!!

Double Secret Recycling
One of my readers really loved the recycled spaghetti jar lids I made into wine glass caps and decided she was going to make them...until she realized her husband had just taken all of the recycling down to the center! We emailed a few times, and I told her that my way to avoid this is to train everyone in the house what constitutes things we have to keep, and then I have a large box set aside for Recycling Mom Can Make Crap Out Of.
Yeah, really.
So cereal boxes, empty jars, peanut tins, wine boxes, and anything else that someone suspects could be repurposed get set aside for my leisurely perusal before they ever see recycling.
I have the people in my office doing it too.
Bridget dropped off two snap lidded snack containers last week, and Ann just handed me a bag with a cereal box and some Styrofoam packing pieces. Yes, I'm having my trash delivered now.
"Can you use these?"
You bet I can.
There's a craft cabinet makeover in my future.
Hutch Moves Back In
Yay, my china hutch is back inside!
And yes, she's scheduled for a little black magic of her own, but for now we're just going to oil all of her dry wood until she shines to start with.
I LOVE these two platters for the sparkle they bring to the party.
I mean, how cool is this detailing?
Next, let's get all obvious with a layer of starfish.
You may recognize this little rehabbed cheese dome,
which I paired with a vase that looks like a squat little urchin...
...just under a taller urchin keeping company with a starfish.
A little champagne bucket filled with shells and sea glass for a pale dash of color...
...and lastly, a ceramic tureen made by my grandmother.
And another corner of Chateau Inferno returns to normal.
Or what passes for normal around here.

It's Scary, and It's in my Living Room
If you have small children or a delicate sensibility, close my site immediately. This is not for the faint of heart.
This THING is in my living room in the corner opposite the front door, in plain site. Please notice the randomly chosen tile that the colorblind former owners mistook for taste. To be fair, it did match the flamingo-pink carpet they put down over the wood floors.
No, I'm not kidding. And they color matched the vertical blinds too. So you now know what our first project was after we got the keys.
The banded details are mere painted plaster, and the stone is the same facade they had covering one wall in the fire room and the front of the house. I have since sledged that crap off, but the fireplace appears to have been done with cement mixed by Superman. I've gotten one stone off. That took a ridiculous amount of time. I'll have grandchildren before I accomplish that.
So I am now taking suggestions. Besides explosives and abandoning the house, what would you do with this fake stone edifice in a Spanish style Deco era beach house?
A Brand New Giveaway!
Good morning! We're going to start Wednesday off with a Guest Spot and a Giveaway for a good cause! I'd like everyone to meet a blog buddy of mine...
Hi Everyone! I'm Dani from Craft Rookie. I've been working on raising some funds for my good friends Stewart and Ciera who are in need of money to take Stewart to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to see a heart specialist. You can read their full story by clicking HERE.
Hi Everyone! I'm Dani from Craft Rookie. I've been working on raising some funds for my good friends Stewart and Ciera who are in need of money to take Stewart to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to see a heart specialist. You can read their full story by clicking HERE.
Sweet Sunny, who is going to be a sponsor on my blog next month (she donated, and you can too!!!) has offered to host a give-away here on her blog to help raise awareness of Stewart and Ciera's situation, and in the meantime, you get to win stuff, so that's totally awesome too, right? Right!
So what are we giving away?
Handmade Greeting Cards!
I will be giving away three sets of hand-made greeting cards (two cards per winner, three winners). You can see the whole selection of options by going HERE. (Or I will even do special orders if you'd prefer!)
So how do you enter?
(Read instructions carefully.)
All you have to do is post a quick post about Stewart and Ciera on your blog. It doesn't have to be long at all! Just make sure you link back to either my blog: Craft Rookie or their blog: Sending Stewart to the Mayo Clinic so we can hopefully raise some more money for their medical expenses. Then post the link to your blog post in a comment here on Sunny's blog. That's all you have to do to enter!!!!! It will only take a few minutes of your time, and it could help out Stewart and Ciera a whole lot.
Good luck! The give-away will close next Wednesday, August 4th at midnight so don't wait to enter!!!
If you'd like to learn more about Stewart and Ciera or you would like to help by becoming a sponsor on my blog or purchasing more cards, you can go HERE to get more information.
If you would prefer to donate to them directly, or if you would like to donate crafts or services for them to auction off at their fundraiser in a couple of weeks, you can contact them by going HERE.
Thanks so much for your time and generosity. Stewart and Ciera and their two little boys are a great little family that deserve all the help we can manage to give them.
So there you have it, a fun giveaway and a chance to help a young family! Let's get busy, Bloggers, and enter!
(If you do not have a blog but would like to enter, please just leave a comment. Nobody gets excluded around here!)
