Porn: A Short Story

Why do I call it porn?

por·nog·ra·phy

/pôrˈnägrəfē/
Noun
The representation in books, magazines, photographs, films, and other media of scenes or behavior that are designed to arouse.

Not to mention...you know you popped over here feeling guilty as hell, didn't you?

Today is the day that ink meets paper on my Mother's house.
As much as I'm looking forward to creating her world, I'm just
as excited to be creating mine.
Remember, we moved Mom in DURING the fire reconstruction.
I haven't decorated HERE yet!
This afternoon and tomorrow, expect a Going Shopping that uses these photos
from my Style File as inspiration.

The following collection are of a sitting room from an HGTV Home of the Year.
This room is a perfect way to gather the family for a variety of activities
that bring them together.
Zones keep you in the same room, whether you're reading,
doing homework, or checking out that Wild Cherry album Momma keeps
having a weird seizure to while screeching in pain,
better known as singing and dancing.
The coffee table is hefty and indestructible.
Board games, a feast of snacks, tired feet, or an epic Dungeons and Dragons campaign
would all live happily here, without the mortal peril
of damage from the Funyuns and Mountain Dew.
Most people find a TV important.
It makes Family Movie Night more successful, but I do suggest the off button be important too.
Plan on seeing these Monday for sure.
LOVE the idea of a beverage center nearby.
We already have a bar...now to take it past simple storage and a beer stash.
So next week, as we move Mom, plan to see some simple changes and projects,
plus furniture arrangements that will change the flow and bring
the large spaces together to rejoin us again.
And expect most of this to be done with my wallet CLOSED.

Tell me, Besties, what would your first change be?

I am on the prowl for a coffee table, and it needs to be all those things you just described. But I want it to be cheap and unique. So I am taking my time and trying to think it out. I know you'll have fun reorganizing your place, and for such a great reason! I love that your mom is so independent she insists on moving offsite.
