Roses Ala Rehab

Okay, it's time for Valentine's Day decor, Rehab style, which means a decided lack of pink and red stuff.
And some shells are involved.
And hot glue.
And spray paint.
No surprises so far, huh?
You'll need a quick trip to the Dollar Tree to pick up the following:
One 16" wreath
3 bunches of velvet roses with florist tape wrapped wire stems, 8 to a bunch

In addition, you will need:
Hot glue
Spray paint. We used aqua. Don't faint
A starfish
Assorted smaller shells
Ribbon for hanging

First, spray paint the wreath in whatever color you like, as long as it's aqua.
The roses come pre-glittered, so score! I get out of one messy job.
Grab one of your roses...
...and simply insert it into the wreath, winding the end around it.

Continue weaving the stems in below the first rose. Keep the stems wrapped around the front, we're not trying to hide them. They'll help when it's time to employ the hot glue.

Do the same on the other side.

I used a total of 20 roses, so $2.50 plus a $1 wreath so far.
Now, heat up the hot glue, and this is where this tangle of paper covered wires comes in handy.
We're going to anchor the arrangement with a big natural starfish.
Yes, I'm gluing a dead animal to my Valentine's Day wreath.
Then, using tons of glue, start slathering some smaller shells...
...and tuck them in the roses, filling in any gaps.
Nab a little ribbon and hang your finished product on your magnificent aqua mirror.
Or someplace else.

There you have it, seaside romance! I spent $3.50 for the supplies for this; you can also get shells at the Dollar Tree if you need to. All in all, I'm labeling this Cheap and Easy.

Happy Valentine's Day from all of us!

Nice photos and for those of us who are doing the traditional Valentines Day colors, they would work beautifully too with your pretty creation.

This wreath is sooo YOU. I wouldn't expect your house to be decked out in red and pink. This is perfect for any time of the year.

It's perfect~ and I love the juxtaposition of the huge starfish next to the white roses. If I lived near the beach, I'd totally make this for my home.

As it is now, I'll just sit back and continue to be jealous that you're within driving distance of my most favorite outdoor mojito and cafe cubano spots in the world.

So purdy! You could keep this up all year! Are you getting a lot of chalk dust w/ the chalkboard? We've switched to chalk markers in the teen's room.

Extra, extra pretty, the massed roses and shells are so pretty together, and the starfishie center is perfect and different. I also love the shots with blackboard-wall scribbles!

Hey mama, you know the only thing I keep thinking when I rad through this is Britney's song,,, oops I did it again,,,,, don't ask me why, but that song pops in my head every time I see another one of your AWESOME projects. The beach house of my dreams (which will probably always be in my dreams instead of reality), would have this beautiful wreath hanging on the wall.

Looks great. I love shells and roses and wouldn't have thought of combining them, but it really works.

Especially with the starfish!
