Miss Me?

First of all, I'd like to thank you guys for the dozens of emails I received asking if everything was okay.
They really blew me away.
I didn't think anyone would notice my absence of a few days,
but you did, and it really helped.
I'll be honest, the last two weeks have been primarily about my mom.
Yeah, that's how I vacation.
I took one week off to ferry her around to doctors, trying to convince them she needed surgery like NOW.
Her surgeon said he'd prefer she went to physical therapy first.
By the time we talked him into doing an MRI, the week was nearly gone.
And last Friday afternoon, he found the reason for her severe pain. Aside from the spinal stenosis.
That fall in September where she broke her hip, elbow, and arm? She also fractured a vertebrae.
I'm typing this from the OR waiting room.
However, we HAVE been busy...
The nice folks at Greenes Fencing liked our raised bed project so much they sent us another kit!
These simple, handy little garden wonders can be purchased at Home Depot for just $30.
Since we'd already built 3, we realized all we needed with spare parts was two more boards and we'd have a 5th bed. Hello, $6.28 worth of cedar 1x4's trimmed to 47" lengths.
Next up, we got some countertop samples for our kitchen remodel. I was looking for something eco-friendly and unusual.
 How about embedded recycled glass?
I think this one with the sea glass shades and specks of mirror is the winner.
Although the smattering of deep blue in this keeps beckoning.
 So would you do this?
Our Make Your Own Sasquach project was a total FAIL, so this is the only shot you'll see.
And the front yard is getting a little curb appeal tweak. What's more appealing than Boo?

 Klancho. Gotta love it.

Besides thinning the beds of Mexican Petunia, we scored on bags of mulch for $1.12 each.
We'll show you how we're going to cut down on weeding this year- for free.
Since my tropicals have come in like crazy, we're going to plant to enhance.
And I think some paint is in order.
So from those of us at 6103 "Say, do you smell smoke?" Street, we'd just like to say...
...after 20 years, shouldn't we be a lot closer to DONE?
I mean, geez....

I can relate to the problems with your Mom. We just found out my Mom's pain is from 3 fractured vertabrae. They said no surgery, just P.T. I hope this helps your mom.

I am sorry to hear about your Mother, I hope she feels better soon.

The garden plans are great and it is going to look super! I am going to look for those raised bed kits. Thanks for the tip.

Surgery is always a hard decision to make, but I'm glad your mom has you looking out for her to keep pestering the doctors to give her a second look. Hope she recovers quickly!

I've been worried and wondered if your absence was health/mom related. Please know that I'm thinking of you both. I've missed your blog updates. HUGS!!

You have told me in the past that your redheadedness can get you through anything...you are a force of nature, Sunny! So glad you have made progress getting your mom proper attention and treatment. Thanks for the wonderful post, the Sasquatch woke up my husband! (I mean when I laughed out loud and knocked the stapler and fax machine onto the floor.)

Beaming positive thoughts in your direction as hard as I can.

I would so do that recycled glass! I have concrete counter tops in my bathroom with clear glass bits and pieces---love, love love them! My great SIL made them and he scored major points!

I have been praying for her and my goodness I am so glad she has you dear heart! Physical Therapy...do not get me started on that. The recycled glass looks like your taste but a question I ask myself is will it be me in twenty years? hugs♥O

Now we know where you get your hardheadedness from Sunny! Guess Mom is paying you back for your teenage years. Hope the both of you are doing fine. I have been busy packing up the house for the move. Wish we could have met up in person.

I haven't been around much lately either.. I've been sleeping whenever the monster sleeps :) I wish I could plant pretty flowers like that out here in the freaking desert, but if I don't kill it, the sun will :-/ I was hoping my rose of sharon, hibiscus, and crape myrtle would be able to come back to life, but the freak cold snap that we got in February killed off pretty much everything here... Temps at zero will do that in the desert LOL

I not a very good stalker. I hadn't noticed that you had been gone. Oh wait, that's cause we've been running around ragged too, what with trips back and forth to the courthouse over something that was suppose to be taken care of at the beginning of the year *sigh*
I hope all turns out well for your mom. You guys will be in my thoughts. *HUGS*

I'll be sending lots of healthy, healing thoughts over your way. Looks like you have LOTS in the works - can't wait to see how it all comes together. I have to say I LOVE all the counter top choices! That's a toughie!

So sorry to hear about your mom, but hopefully the surgery will cure the severe pain. I have been MIA too, as the real estate career is rather high-maintenance at the moment. I have to admit, I love your raised beds. Try to get some rest!
