Sam made two amazing bean soups this weekend, and he hung onto the
discarded leek ends for me to play Doctor Frankengardener on.
Step one: plant.
Step two: wait.
Step three: keep waiting. Get distracted.
Check out the Feline Overlord destruction wrought upon the scallion experiment.
I'm checking for onion breath now to determine the culprit.
Meanwhile, let's safeguard the other plantings.

Jane at The Borrowed Abode sent me a few of her castoffs, including this cool mini greenhouse.
It needed a little more oomph, so I made a decoupaged tile platform for it.
It works for me, and the scallions have remained unmolested.
Oh, back to the leeks...
It looks like those sprout nicely too!
Wanna pop by for dinner?

I have great difficullty thinking about cats molesting leeks at 6:30 in the morning. Thanks bunches♥
Bean soup in a house full of cats with onlion breath? Hell yeah, count me in! I'll bring my glue gun and a nice bottle of wine!
Keep the ideas sprouting Sunny...I'll just be able to give up waiting on spring and garden inside!:-)
I covet your mini leek green house.
I'm ready for dinner & breath checking duty!
Leeks!!! You are brilliant! I don't know how much they cost in your neck of the woods, but here they are at least $2.98 Ea. here.
They're stupid expensive here too, and we love them, so when the scallions were such a success, we decided to give it a whirl. That's 2 days worth of sprout!
I had no idea you could do this with leeks...fascinating.
What an awesome use for the greenhouse! Feline overlords really can leek havoc on a garden. <.<
That ocean mini-platform is so pretty, perfect with the greenhouse. And leeks: genius again! And checking cats for onion breath: hee hee ha!
Huh, didn't know that would work with leek cuttings....
The title of this post had me cracking up! I have to try growing my own onions and leeks. It looks so easy and I don't even have a cat! ;)
Sarah
COOL! We grow them in the garden but I might have to bring this indoors since there's no gardening going on around here with frigid temps.
Sunny - you make me smile (and snort with laughter too) every single post. :)

Sunny, have I mentioned how much I love you? Your post title totally made my day :0)
Glad these are working out for you as well.
