The Mail Area

I'm a little bit of an organization freak, and one of the coolest things about starting from scratch is that you can redo things exactly the way you want.
So you may remember when I made this handy little organizer for the incoming mail.
This was part of a larger project. The two bookcases I have in the Florida room were salvaged from Pier 1 about 15 years ago when they upscaled their image, and I ended up with two solid wood adjustable units that are 8 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and 18 inches deep for $5 each.
As long as we're spray painting everything in our world...
...I bribed the Minions to take these apart and drag them outside.
A few coats of gloss black later they were looking a lot better.
As were the low bookcases we'd bought from This End Up a couple of decades ago.
All of the storage baskets got a nice unifying spritz of aqua.
And I did the same to my shabby fabric covered mish mash of boxes.
And we started to get a little of our life put back together.
This little table by the way is a recycled laundry hamper for storing our photographs.
The sides of the shelving units are open, which I really didn't like, so I cut inexpensive foam core board, slathered it in spray adhesive, and then wrapped it with fabric. On one piece, I criss-crossed it with ribbons, gluing and pinning the ends in the back to form a message center.
I have a nearby Dollar Tree jar of  fun office supplies to secure things if needed.
l
The top section is all bulletin board, generally for important items like scholarship documents.
Or flamingo matchbooks your mother has hung onto for two years as a gag gift.
Long story...

Good move! My dad is freaking out because the bookcase I wanted to build had open sides. :) Love how cohesive all your bookshelf baskets look!

Hope you are feeling better.

I love it when you go big! That large-scale criss-cross bulletin board would be so useful! Man, you know how to get a lot for your money.
