Like my manicure? It's called "dirt."
Since I planted green beans, snow peas, and tomatoes, I needed a little support for them. And since the planting wall is at varied heights, it needed to be customized, so $0.75 dowel rods were a perfect solution. I spray painted them in my favorite colors, and then these particular 4 were driven into three different levels.
I enlisted the aid of the always game Thom to hold the freshly
painted dowel rods while I tied them with twine.
THIS puppy is my new BFF. It was $4 at Dollar General, folds like a switch blade to go in my pocket, and cuts through wood like butter.
So once my dowel rods were in place and tied, I trimmed them so they were even.
Now, tie the twine to the bottom of a dowel...
...and encircle your structure, knotting it every so often to keep it in place.
Your beans have something to climb now!
Tie that off at the top.
And add your fairy charm!
Lather, rinse, repeat as necessary.
Enjoy your shot of tropical sparkle and sun catching glitter!

Those turned out so pretty and I love that you added bling. I see South Beach, Miami all over this. Not that I've ever been there, I'm just sayin' ;0)
The dirt manicure is the lastest thing! ;) Very anti-French mani.
I love the tee pees and especially the fairy charms. I agree w/ Mel..very South Beach. I can't wait to see the whole yard/garden together!!

I meant LATEST thing.
That tool scares me a little, though. I would cut myself for sure.

Awesome. And, this looks like it is on UR fence.
That's why I didn't paint the blocks, and wait until you see the added shots of color.
Heather, that tool is much less scary than my Ryobi circular saw, I assure you! I do try to post projects with minimal tools though, because I know most women don't drool when they go to Home Depot. The wall project got a little overhaul when my bud Michael reminded me to grab a masonry blade to cut the bottoms for the planter. That made me think: how can this be done easier? I'll have a tiling tutorial for the dresser makeover though, and when I rip out the bathroom and the kitchen, the gloves are OFF.
Very cute! I love the little added bling bling to them... oh, and of course the dirt manicure. :)
Chelsea, yes, dirt is my color, don't you think?
Hi Sunny, here's my version: http://cggrlogan.wordpress.com/2010/06/10/my-favorite-flavor-cherry-red/
