The Gauntlet is Down...and Shake Your Cheese Thing

We've all done it.
You have a catalog on your lap.
A website is open on your monitor.
You're in a store, and there it is.
It stops you where you are.
It's perfect.
It's you.
You shoot a bad phone pic to your BFF.
Should I get it?
But the question is moot.
It's materialistic bliss.
And you love it.

Take a breath.
Make a wish.
Muster your courage
and look at the
PRICE.
For some of you, this is no big deal.
You never suffer from sticker shock.
You blithely whip out the plastic and the item is yours.
The rest of us start scheming immediately,
because too many zeros turn the item we crave
from THIS:
 ...into THIS:

THIS is not a good idea.

But I did get the feeling when 426 of you perused the Z Gallerie post last Friday,
and when it was picked up SIX times on Pinterest,
that there are some HACKERS out there!
Are you racking your brain for a way to recreate this...
 ...or these...
 ...or one of those...
 ...something like that...
 ...a couple of them...
 ...build your own city...
...or totally glam it up?
Allow us to encourage your bad behavior.
The Redhead and The Minions of Life in Rehab
are joining forces with
Steff, The Lisbonlioness from
to bring you...
Steff called me out in a comment that went a little like this:
" I need plastic starfish, white spray paint, that post where a lady made faux corals, a seriously branchy branch, more white spray paint, that post where a lady made faux driftwood, mirror tiles, old jars, grout and a week off.
Oh, wait.
I HAVE most of the above plus a week off coming up.
Think our landlady would let me paint her wonderful dried blood red and snot yellow bathroom tiles white? Meh, shenanigans. WHY would I bother asking?
I challenge thee, redhead. Week commencing 23rd of July, Craft- Off with stuff inspired by this post and this post only.
Up furrit?"

Yeah. Yeah, I'm up for it.
The question is,
are you???
Starting July 23rd, we're going to hack our brains out,
and we challenge YOU to join us for a week long party of Hacker's Delight!
Read the post, pick a project, and let's share some genius!!!
 We guarantee a good time!
There's a button at the bottom of the post and in the side bar;
swipe mine or Steff's, tell your friends, and get ready to join the PARTY!
Start adding your projects two weeks from today!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled project,
already in progress.
You're probably worn out from all of that, so this is simple.
Stop me if you've done this.
You'll need just about any store bought cheese shaker,
full or empty, I don't care.
How's that for easy?
If it's empty, have something you'de prefer to have in a shaker,
like this awkward sack of powdered sugar.
Remove the top.
Take a clean pint sized Ball canning jar.
Put your awkward powdered sugar in the Ball jar and screw the shaker cap on.
Dispense the sugar freely onto french toast
or embellish confections.
 If your container is full...
...just put the cheese in the jar.
Label them if you think someone might sugar
their penne a la vodka.

It's a lot classier,
washable,
and think of the things you could house in these jars!
Baking powder,
sprinkles,
glitter...
Walk, do not run, to the kitchen.

Yess! I am already spinning mental gears - I accept the challenge and am ready to glitz something. Whoohoo!

Love the shaker top idea - I have lots of ball jars with n lids - great way to repurpose them!

My (very) recent ebay purchases were marked as dispatched, and I seem to think that little DIY shop on the corner sells spray paint for less than 3 quid.
Can I haz plastic landmarks> That google search went a tad awkward...
but I really crave french toast now! :)
Let's get this show on the road, tomorrow (unexpectedly early day off) is dedicated to gathering twigs.
Can't wait for July 23rd!

Danni at Silo Hill Farm sent me over and challenged me to participate in the Hack-off. I have never heard of Z Galleries, but think maybe, no, definitely I can come up with something! Challenge accepted.
