Make Up My Mind for Me

Okay, we are making progress in our bedroom redo. I love how all the projects we've done over the past year are coming together so perfectly. I was unafraid, bold, daring, and unabashed when it came to hauling anything outside for a new coat of paint and a new life.
 Then I got to this.
This is the television and media cabinet on the wall opposite our bed. And for some reason, I'm just a big waffle on this issue.
Pay no attention to the arrangement on it, because that's just basically storage. This hasn't been neatened or anything for these photos.
Oh, you could already tell that, huh?
This is a simple Thomasville piece purchased flat in the box from Target several years ago.
It was $600 brand new, so I'm not really afraid to paint it white, I just, for once, can't make the decision.
Now since I won a $25 Home Depot gift card from The Borrowed Abode,
I'm asking:
Do I leave it as is?
Or do I bathe this sucker in white?
Weigh in, folks. The weekend is looming!

I'm totally stumped! I know everything else is probably white in the room...but it looks so good as is. But you and I are definitely different in some regards - it would drive me crazy to not have some wood toned furniture in a space. I guess I'd say, if you can't decide, then wait.

I was thinking maybe you could make coordinated white/teal/blue storage for all the shelves, and that would help it tie in without your having to paint it.

So far Blogger hasn't let me leave a comment but I am going to try to leave one anyway by using a different profile.

I would leave it for now, but that's me. If you have painted everything in your house you may want to paint it then.

I'm feeling WILD today...it's my birthday. Go for the white.

hmmm. I think if you're undecided leave it for now. I do agree with Jane on the white/blue/teal storage for the shelves.
OR, leave it wood toned and paint the backs of the shelves white or blue or a combo of the 2.

White. 'nuff said! :)

When faced with a decorating dilemma, I usually wait. It's always hard to decide whether or not to paint wood, because you can't go back once it's done. Wish I was more help, but I say work on something else in the room and then take a look at it again.

I'm gonna throw something wild out there. How about a dark blue, (like navy) and maybe a pattern in the back of the shelves? IMHO, I think you could use a contrast color to all the light blue and white you have. Just sayin'.

Something weird going on at blogspot. I, too had to post as anonymous. Tru@TruTalesFeats

Maybe because she is my daughter and we think much the same way, I agree with Heather...when in doubt wait. Although I do think that style-wise white furniture goes in more with your contempory look. You can always paint it later...

White, for sure. A nice creamy white and it will pop off of the blue wall.

btw, this is Mel, posting anonymously as I can't post as myself either :(

Ohhh... On the one hand, I feel like you need to paint it white so that it will match. On the other hand, it sure looks good as-is. Is there something elsewhere in your house that you could swap with it and paint?

Geez, that's a tough call. It's a really nice piece, and the color isn't outdated or anything. I'd say sleep on it, and keep remodeling the room. Maybe once you're done with the rest of the room you'll look at it and know that it should be wood/white.

I love wood so for me I'd leave it, but you're not me and you're the one living in the white and aqua beachfront bedroom. ;) Maybe you paint it white, but instead of all the aqua storage, since this piece's color seems to match the floor, you find wicker/baskets storage that match the woodtone and tie it back into the floor. Maybe some aqua ribbon for trim on the baskets/storage. Hmmmm. That's an extra purchase. I know... Maybe you can tape off a narrow band around the top of the storage baskets and spray paint an aqua "ribbon". That sounds more like you. And, yes, I agree, you need to buy stock in the spraypaint brand. =D

Doesn't anyone have Photoshop who can white it out and show you what it might look like? I would but all I have is Word and MSPitiful, I mean MSPaint. LOL

Um, I'm pretty sure Sunny has been abducted by aliens and an imposter left in her place because the Sunny I know and love would NEVER waver over whether or not to spray paint her furniture. Just sayin'. Someone better warn the minions.... ;)

I love it the way it is... Why don't you Sunnify it with a fab treatment on the backs of the shelves(navy sounds divine) and then add wicker baskets with white liners? Can't wait to see what you decide!

I want you to paint it white because I'm suffering from a similar indecision on a similar piece of furniture - but mine was $100 from the Thrift Store and is heavy as He!!, so I suspect it cost a bit of $$ new. The finish is beautiful so I'm reluctant to change it. Take one for the team! :-)
