In the early 90's, my living room was done up in the latest home fashions!
That's right, sports fans:
it was slip covered in sunflowers with birdhouses and birdcages.
Not. One. Word.
Naturally, as my taste evolved, certain things were banished into storage.
Like this little drawer piece, which leapt back into my consciousness
when I needed something to store and dispense twine for the garden.
Sure, the weathered, dirty, beaten up white would have worked.
Ask yourselves, however- is that how The Redhead rolls?
Certainly not.
I like my accessories to coordinate.
Let's start by cleaning the muck, gunk, and red Sharpie wig dye off of this puppy.
I want to keep the galvanized roof as is, so tape that off.
Make sure the eaves are covered too.
This is getting three coats of Rustoleum Satin Green Apple spray paint.
The drawers are over here, and the spiders have been evicted.
Clean off all of this dirt...
...and hit the fronts with Rustoleum Satin Aqua.
We used two light coats for a fresh but barely-there finish.
We didn't paint the sides, which won't show, so that the drawers won't stick.
There we go.
This will look great mounted on the wall above the hooks that
hold my garden bag and my work glove bag.
The twine will feed right out the holes for quick snips to tie off plants.
AND I'LL KNOW WHERE IT IS FOR ONCE!
The best part?
I had everything.
This little freshen up was zero.
Zip.
Nada.
No dinero.
Whatcha got just sitting around?

I like it right where it is but I'm sure on the wall will be nice too. I was totally into the birdhouse scene myself! And lately the cages....
adorable!
What a great little storage container. I also had sunflowers, along with stenciled ivy hanging on my walls. I shudder to think of my decorating in the 90's!!
Perfectamundo!
How cute this is...love it!
Fabulous! The colors really do give it a whole new life. Good thing you held onto it. I had a lovely birdhouse collection in the 90s too. A few of my most favorite ones have made their way into the girls treehouse.
I'd pay some good money for this one, and don't believe for a second I'd stick it in the garden! :)
Oh, I love it! If it ever disappears mysteriously from your Chateau, please check the borrowed abode for its' whereabouts. :)
