You may recall about a month ago we dragged this gem home from a neighbor's trash pile.
Don't you love when people renovate?
We taped it up and scrubbed it down.
We let a few minor factors determine what would be the front and what would be the back of the project.
Scrape, sand, and prep...
...and then three coats of my favorite Rustoleum Gloss White.
Now let's take the tape off the back and clean the glass really well, like squeaky clean.
I gave this task to Thom, who had to redo it 3 times.
So when he swore the glass was perfect, I called in the expert.
Once it was determined the glass was so clean you could eat off of it, we went on to the next step.
Michael's, $11.97.
And let me tell you, it really is reflective!
I used 3 coats, dabbing with paper towels for a mottled effect. Each coat dries in a minute,
so this went really fast!
After an hour we flipped it, cleaned the glass on that side, and dragged it in.
That hallway is starting to sizzle!
I've always wanted a really large standing mirror, and I think we spent a total of $15 for this one.
Works for me.
As Savannah said, "It's like a doorway into the room you're already in!"

Your minions crack me up. I had never heard of reflective glass paint. Sweet. We have two old windows hanging above our fireplace mantle as wall art. We might need to do a bit more to them. This post is being shown to the hubby tonight.
You are far too cleaver...I had no idea there was such a thing as refective paint. I have always wanted mirrored doors...hmmmm! Dare I try it?
This is awesome - had no idea about that paint either. And I think it really makes the space.
I love this, What a great idea!
oh wow again , i love this sooooo cool and really trendy too x love how you make it a family affair x nice rearranging of the flower pots suring shooting x have to get my hands on that glass paint

Hahaha! You guys rock :0) Can you please adopt us as part time family?
The mirror/door is PERFECT. Mirror paint....totally going on the "must buy" list
It looks great!! How do you get your teenagers to be so helpful? I'm pulling random teenagers off the street to help me. ;)
You know your ability to find really awesome stuff amazes me.
The kids actually like to get involved and often brainstorm with me on techniques. It was Young Sam's idea to do the white glove bit and make it look as if he licked the glass in fact. They've all really got the redo bug.
HEYYYYYY now...... I have two old doors very similar to that sitting in my basement neglected...hmmmm......
What a great idea and it looks wonderful. I love it. Hugs, Marty
Whoa! That is way cool - I've never heard of or seen that reflective paint! I'll definitely have to keep that in mind. I LOVE the way this turned out! Coolest. Mirror. Ever.

That's brilliant! I have to find that paint, I wonder if it's available here?
That is remarkably cool. - Skipernicus
You and the Minions have great Vulcan minds!
OMG, that is totally unexpected! I am very desirous of this mirror, and jealous, and could you mail it to me?
I've never seen mirrors straight out of the can! Oh man, I musta been living behind the moon. And you know... embryo sharks or not (and I don't wanna know how that shark embryo ended up as an item for sale, I really don't), your minions are effing amazing!! It's quite rare that I read a blog post and actually chuckle like a hag on Hallowe'en, but Mr Spuck (in German it translates into Mr Spit, it IS funny for native speakers... once. ^^) did the trick. Now pass me the wine.
SSSSSSSSSSSSweet!!!!! OMG. I am loving this. I saw this paint used in a project on Nate's show and I have looked all over for it but haven't found it. Hopefully our Michael's has it in now too.
this is just too damn cool.
Pam
The door/mirror REALLY pops against your bold paint color. I love the sparkle!

This so rocks my world. I love it and will feature it tonight. I am trying to think of how I could use your idea and make it work for a project at my mom's. Thanks for sharing on Motivated Monday.

A really cool idea. To further this, you could add crown molding at the top and a nice baseboard at the bottom. Great job with this.
Wow...very clever & beautiful! I have a can of that paint - now to find a door!
So glad I saw this at Today's Creative Blog! I've seen that paint but didn't want to get any until I saw it used. It looks great and your mirror door is wonderful. Now, I can't wait to get some!
