Rope Tricks

In this stunning before photo of my bedroom, you may have noticed the small frames
on the wall between the closets.
Those are $1 pieces of artwork from the early 90's during my Southwestern phase.
Stunning, just stunning.
As a bonus, you can't take them apart and just replace what's under the glass since the assembly
is GLUED TOGETHER PERMANENTLY.
I didn't happen to notice that.
So we taped them up and gave them a good spritzing of Rustoleum's Satin Aqua.
I need to buy stock, I know.
Then let them sit for a week while you are totally distracted with other stuff.
Finally, peel off the painter's tape to reveal your finished product!
Okay, let's go hang these babies back up!
Of course I'm kidding. Stop it. Choose a coastal patterned scrapbooking paper and measure the glass on your woefully outdated art. Cut a rectangle to fit.
Slather the glass, smooth the paper over it, then coat the paper and squeeze out the air bubbles.
Once that's dry, glue a showy shell to the center.
Trim it off with a rope border.
 Fray the ends.
And now we have some light, summery items to decorate with for zero dollars since I had everything on hand.
And they do look good in the room.
Oh, did you want to see?
Soon, my dears, soon...

Clever girl!! I would have probably broken them while trying to get the stinkin' back off. Gotta keep this one in mind before I get out the heavy gear!!

Great idea! I love the frayed ends of the rope. Silly me would've spent hours trying to figure out how to tuck them into each other to look like a never ending rope...
But for next time, sometimes heating the back of the glued-tight picture frames with a heat gun or even a hair dryer set on high, softens the glue enough to pry it loose.
