Fountainhead Revisited

Last year, we made a fountain Feline Overlord Water Dish using some clay pots and an old pump we'd been reusing for years. Said pump finally gasped its last, so we needed to replace it.
For full instructions on the original project, click HERE.
First, Thom cut the cord on the old pump and scraped the dried Goop out to remove it.
He also cut the cord into dozens of tiny chunks just for fun.
I have no clue why.
The new plug was then fed through the hole at the bottom of the basin.
We set a sheet of foil underneath.

Pull the majority of the cord through, leaving just a little play for the pump itself.
Set some river stones around the hole.
Then liberally squeeze Goop brand silicone adhesive over the rocks to create a water tight seal.

Get out the XBox and kill some zombies.
Once this is dry, add a little water and test your seal for leaks.
If you aren't leaking, invert a pot over the pump, feed the fountain through the hole in the pot, fill with water and let the gurgling, splashing sound lower your mental temperature.

I'm loving the idea of a water feature off our sunroom deck. Very cool.

I love this! And because you gave us such a great tutorial I think I could actually do it. I never would have thought about the silicon sealer for the hole...brilliant. I can think of all sorts of fun places in the garden to put a fountain like this.

Does Thom take custom orders?
