Inspriation Point: IKEA

The following post is shot entirely in Vannah Vision. Which means she crawled in the cart when we got to the store and swiped the camera. Have fun with that perspective.
Good morning, and it's time for another edition of Inspiration Point, the post where I go shopping, try and figure out what to do next, ramble uncontrollably, and drag you along.
Today, we're headed for my favorite swanky Swedish import store, IKEA, where even the stuffed spider puppets are cute.
Here's an entire bin of adorable fanged things.

Part of the improvements on the house in the coming year will be lighting related. We've done a lot of rewiring, and now it's time to carefully map out how to set ambient, reading, and mood levels.
Because we want you to be able to see.
Despite your best efforts.
IKEA lighting = affordability and off the wall unique.
So what about some dining room lighting that threatens to go super nova!?
I'm kinda crushing on it...
...it's just...you know...cardboard and a light bulb. I can't. Even with my new hardwired smoke alarms.
Call me chicken.
This bar combo said PAR-TAY to all of us, and I loved the storage and serving. I think I can just steal the luminescence and hang onto the majority of the cash.
Check. This. Out.
The glass panels match the wallpaper.
How delicate and feathery too, and I love the sea glass quality of the color.
Talk about directional lighting!
Well if you can't highlight the focal points of your dining room with THIS, there's no hope.
*A few gratuitous spins in the outrageously swively cart. Yep, she's sitting in it.*
THIS I'd do. Seriously.
We made a quick stop to visit my favorite crewel work pillow.
It's on sale, but not low enough.
Yet.
These combos are cool, and they come in a ton of colors.
The starlight effect in the pierced metal shade made the other lamps envious.
Do you see the white one's pleats seething?
I'm more and more into clear lamp bases lately for their lack of visual weight.
Not to mention their versatility as display space.
This skinny model would take up no real estate on a table.
I can't get the music from A Chorus Line out of my head for some reason...
Awesome. Period. There's no discussion.
This is on the list for sure with its anemone-like tentacles of light.
Here's a nice touch of texture with a cool glow. I can see this cozied up next to a vintage wicker sofa on a screened in porch.
I think these accent lights imported all the way from Sweden are the
coolest things on the market. You could hide one in a bookcase, on a buffet,
anywhere you'd like a little glowing attention.
The larger ones, however, have my heart.

I need the one that looks like coral.
No, seriously. I'll get a prescription if you want.
Add that to the list.
I think these would be great dangling over a nightstand, but I'm afraid the super nova fixture will eat them first.
The other lamps watched in horrific anticipation...
It's okay! They escaped!
And I think one of these would go perfectly in the hall outside my bathroom.
It's obviously brave enough.

Hmmmm, swagged  on either side of Savannah's daybed, draped with black tulle?
LED pinpoints have an ethereal quality.
How fun would these lights be in a playroom shelving system???
Get your color on!
The snowflake dangles hit the cart immediately. I knew they'd be perfect for THIS mildly unorthodox project.

Mmmmmm, curvy temptation...
...now comes in blue.
I LOVE the pattern on this tall vase too. I'm a sucker for graphically etched glass.

In the end, a half dozen these little simple reversible candle holders that were $0.49 made it into the cart.
And do I have plans...

My gosh! I had no idea that such lighting was available - some truly outrageous and interesting stuff. My favorite is the 'tenacle' light.

So THAT'S why everyone is always raving about Ikea! I think I have to drive at least 2 hours to get to one in my area - but it appears to be worth the prilgrimage.

Ok. We're on the other side of the state and only 40 minutes away from an IKEA. I'm begging for an IKEA run.

I can spend hours in the IKEA lighting department. Just ask any of the disgruntled people I've gone there with before. Thanks for the entertaining tour, you crack me up.

D'you know, the fluffy, starry cardboard chandeliers remind me of what Aunt Peaces did to drinking straws.
Hey, you could offer seats on your family tour to IKEA for money, I'd TOTALLY buy a ticket!!

Thanks for taking us shopping. I need to stop at the IKEA in Portland, I pass by it all of the time but always on the way to some other place. I love light fixtures and had no idea they had so many and some are verrry interesting!
