The Sixth Day of Catmas

Blackberry, AKA BB Cat, AKA Vlad the Impaler.
Specifically, my husband's cat who barely tolerates our presence.
You know she's entered a room because you will hear a POOF! and then smell sulfur.
She has retractable leathery wings.
And Savannah is, at this moment, the bravest girl I know.
Back in October, I saw this on Jen's extremely famous site,
And I knew. I hadda. I LOVED them!
I already had cheap plastic gold chargers from Big Lots, purchased years ago.
If you don't, I spotted these 4 for $5 at Walmart. This will whip up into a sweet gift. Ready?
 You will need:
4 cheap chargers
Plastic primer
Chalkboard paint
Chalk is a nice touch
 Haul these puppies outside.
Give your chargers a good coat of plastic primer. Do NOT skip this step. Ever.
Allow this to dry for a good hour.

My new love affair.
Three light coats with some drying time in between

Done! Wrap this with a stick of chalk wound up in the bow, and you have a gift that can slide from holidays to birthdays to homecomings! Use them as as placecard substitutes! Have the children draw seasonal stuff on the rims!
Where does imagination take you?

Hallelujah ( insert music) Hallelujah. I have been straining my brain 9 and due to recent repeated alcohol abuse there isn't much left to strain) trying to think of something fun but cheap for my artsy fartsy girls that doesn't take a lot of time. You have saved my butt. I have a ton of these chargers that I was going to do something with for a Traveling Door sale but then never did. I even have the chalk board spray paint. Lacking the primer though so I guess I will still have to venture out into the madness.
Just thought you should know you are my hero. :)

That's a fun idea - and a reminder that I need a dining table STAT so I can start decorating it and having fun dinner parties with chalkboard chargers. :)

What a great idea for cheap plastic chargers :)

Even pitiful me could manage this gorgeous project. BTW my cat would pour scorn upon my head if a hat was placed on him!

Fantastic!!!! I'm itchin to try this. I want some extra umph for my table. :) I can always count on you for realistic projects that look amazing!

I had a tortoiseshell cat who was had the same evil bent (gosh I miss that terror LOL!). She adored my husband and tossed me to the curb to be "his cat". Savannah better watch her back- I sense payback in the air. :)

My husbands cat gets that look too. I would sleep with one eye open ;)

LOL @ Vlad, that's so typical!
Thanks for the advice re primer, I think I would have skipped it. Imagine the disappointment!
Your handwriting is adorable, you can really pull it off!

You know how I love chalkboard spray paint. I even have those cheapy chargers from Goodwill and haven't really used them yet. I will keep this project in mind!!

Love these, Sunny... they are both adorable and ADD friendly! Good luck with the mother-in-law / mother craziness.

Kitty may be evil, but she sure is beautiful! Great gift, love how quickly you can do multiples with this idea.

I'm totally addicted to chalkboard paint. These turned out fabulous.

Brilliant! I've sprayed those plastic chargers different colors before (In fact, I have 4 chargers that must have at least a half dozen layers of different colored paint on them), but this never occurred to me. It's so sharp looking.
I can't wait to collect more chargers and make these. I'm going to give them to friends, but I'm definitely going to have a couple of sets for myself.
Again, thanks for sharing your creativity.

HAH!! Blackberry looks like the angriest cat EVER!! I like this idea of chalkboarding some chargers. I haven't had a chance to play with the chalkboard spray paint yet, but I got terribly excited when I found out they had it (and then was WAY too excited about the glow in the dark spray paint). I'm a fan of multipurpose items.
