A Little Update

I know, we did it again.
And I'm sure you were looking for us.
We really haven't had that much to show you.
I mean, this ramp was designed by an engineer and
is on a blueprint with different elevations and quite frankly,
I have no idea what Mark's doing half the time.
There are post anchors set in concrete with expansion bolts.
A lot of them in fact.
Posts attached to things with metal plates.
Everything triple checked to be level.
 Framing inspections passed.
 Slopes determined.
More concrete poured.
And then things started flying.

The planks when on, with surgical cuts in places.
Do you like that little bevel cut?
Pretty slick, don't you think?
Mark didn't miss a trick, even making sure Mom could get to her spigot.
 That was his own touch.
We have the reveal on this project tomorrow..
Today, we'll be doing a test run with Mom's electric wheelchair.
And do you see those broken, old, and missing pavers?
There's a little surprise coming in the morning that my mother has no idea about.
So don't miss it!

Product Alert!

The Redhead went shopping for painting supplies, and have I got some
cool new products for you guys!
First up is this fabulous stuff, available at Lowes.
It actually seals and repairs damaged wood and concrete.
I'm using it to paint the undersides of Mom's handicap ramp
to make it more weatherproof and durable.
 It rolls on thick.
I only needed one coat of this bad boy!
Best of all, it seals cracks up to 1/4 inch.
How's that for the duct tape of the paint department?
With over 100 colors to choose from, you should be able to match your motif spiffily.
To roll the stuff on, I used my Seal Pro paint tray,
a mere $10 at Lowes.
Why do I love it?
The deep plastic tray comes with a 4" roller and cage that also attach to my extension stick.
Handy, huh?
But there's more!
You want to take lunch, but don't want to clean up?
The roller fits in a rest inside, and the lid snaps on like a Tupperware container!
Airtight, Peeps!
You know I like to test my toys thoroughly, so just to play around a bit,
I left the paint over night.
Check out how well it held up!
I just went back to painting like I'd had a bathroom break.
And clean up?
The paint blasted off of the surface like it was Teflon coated.
So if you've been bagging your brushes and ruining them anyway,
go spend the $10 and save yourself a headache.
Now, I still have painting to do!

Anybody Seen the LIR Gang?

What? We closed down? That's a filthy rumor!!!
 We are not amused.
 Worried, perhaps.
 Okay, maybe a little amused.
 But mostly confused.
I mean, seriously, Besties, would we do that to you?
Leave without a word?
We've just been crazy mad busy with the business of
four adult lives in transition.
We'll fill you in, we promise.
In the meantime, the final reveal on Mom's house starts Monday...
AND IT'S ABOUT @#$%^&* TIME!

The Great Glitzy Hack Off...in PURPLE

I've been down with the flu.
Too sick to even participate in my own Hack Off.
But did that stop you guys?
Oh heck no!!!
On our latest trip to Z Gallerie, I spotted this gorgeous little place setting.
I fell madly in love.
Evidently, so did Gail from Purple Hues & Me!
She made her own version using those luscious smelling cinnamon pine cones...
 ...Dollar Tree bleach...
 ...and so.much.GLITTER.
We like glitter.
 Lots of it.
And of course, the color she's known for, purple.
Like all the details on this luxe looking project?
Go visit Gail for the full tute!
And keep hacking, my Besties!

The Great Glitzy Hack Off...and my Lame Contribution!

 Sure I've been busy.
My level of crafting has taken a professional turn.
Yep, I have parlayed what I've learned into a living.
This was a kitchen yesterday.
 But did that stop me?
 Heck no.
But in between, we're still working on this!

Dollar Tree skulls lightly misted with silver Rustoleum spray paint
...because that's how I roll.

I trotted out other predictable glitter elements.

I happen to like a little color with my Halloween!
Tomorrow, we're going to amp it up a bit with our evil laboratory.
