Today, we're going to revisit some of the strange things I've made out of garbage.
Stop me if you've heard this...
I've been into the whole idea of being green for decades, and I really love how crowded the bandwagon has gotten in the last decade. While I'm glad recycling has caught on, I'm even happier that upcycling is now a word and a practice, and there are some amazing ideas out on the net to keep things out of the landfills. Here are a few of mine from the last year:
An old wreath from the bottom of the closet. Remove the silk sunflowers that have been clinging there since 1993...
...and really go green.
Save your cardboard boxes...
...and organize your office.
Your daughter's stuff is everywhere, you say?
This even enticed a teenaged girl to tidy up.
Grab some unused items...
...and tame the mail every day.
Cast off jars and cheap solar landscape lighting...
add up to some coastal flare.
We also got a garden started...
...with things you may have tossed out.
And THIS furry guy...
...now brightens up my desktop.
I used leftover scraps...
...to solve a little insect problem.
We also took those hideous yet necessary beverage koozies...
...and made them into something the visiting teenagers dive for to keep their sodas cold.
Boxes with lids? GRAB them!
They turn into great clutter stashes.
My husband's caffeine addiction came in very handy...
...for brightening a shelf.
I even dragged the new office into this.
How's that for a way to store plastic grocery bags?
Admit it, these boxes are really sturdy.
With just a few touches, they're also very functional.
And you never know when your naughty habits...
...might actually come in handy!
Well how did we do? Did we keep enough stuff out of the garbage while getting this place in shape? I'm reasonably pleased so far.
So far.
We sure aren't done yet!
I'm going to steal the cereal box idea and the beer case idea for my craft room. I sure do have a lot of both thanks to my boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cool !!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! I'm glad I'm not boring anybody with all the reposts, but I figured there would be things no one had seen before too.
ReplyDeleteUnless like me, you read people's blogs from front to back like a crazed stalker, of course.
I like seeing it all grouped together and I'm still amazed by it all! You are a genius!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! I don't know if I'm a genius...I think I just like to play with garbage.
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas. Love reusing stuff that is just laying around.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the dogs feeding station if you have a picture of it. I could find one on here.
Thanks!
Those projects are all so fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful ideas! I am so inspired to take a look around my house to see how I can repurpose a few things. You have a lovely blog. I've enjoyed visiting this morning. Now I'm off to paint my old grapevine wreath! :)

I love it!!! Girl you are a whiz with a cardboard box that's for sure. I wonder what I can make with an old diaper box. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Messy Monday!!
Anita, the feeding station will be included in the house tour coming this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments and the visits!
Love all the projects!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up!

You are a genius! You should participate in Project Genesis on the Old Grey Mare blog (http://oldgreymareprimitives.blogspot.com/). It's on hold for the holidays but you have some great ideas and her followers would appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on organizing. Also, gotta admit, I can't resist taking a perfectly sturdy box from something I bought...and turning it inside out by opening all the seams and re-gluing them. Then I fill them with stuff and have lots of room to write labels on them.
