A Painted Lady

Those of you who have been around for a year may remember this piece that I acquired from the same friends that gave me everyone's favorite piece, the giant aqua mirror. The curves, details, and legs had me immediately. Good bones on solid wood make my heart skip a beat.
Sunday, I summoned my Minions for a massive paint spree and we dragged a few overdue projects outside for a paint-a-palooza! This weighty thing was almost too much for the boys, but we got it out on a tarp and prepared.
Lift with the legs, not the $3700 shoulder.
The hardware was discolored and dingy, but the details were too wonderful.
I gave it a good cleaning and a coat of silver spray paint...no question in my mind, it''s a keeper.
The rest of it went out on a tarp for a dousing.
All this carved work deserves some special treatment, don't you think? We lightly sanded the surface and wiped it all clean with a soft cloth.

The whole affair got three light coats of gloss white paint.
Here's where the fun starts. I then misted the pieces in small sections with semi-gloss aqua and immediately wiped it off. It clung to the lines.

Then I misted over that with white and wiped it off. It left me with glimpsed of aqua.  The top was sprayed in aqua without taping it, and the edges were wiped, blurring the lines.
 My favorite part: reassembling!

Fresh, soft color, and a a little surprise in Mom's room when she gets home from rehab Friday.
I think we brought this lady back to life. And for about $15 in paint.
