The Rehab Christmas House Tour, Part 1

 BEACHY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS
Ready for a little walk through of Chateau Inferno all decked out for the season? Well grab a fat free pumpkin spice soy nog and let's see what the crew has been up to, shall we? By the way, you're going to also see a lot of work in progress that will remind you there's going to be more construction posts starting in January.

(Hint: anything in all caps is a link to the project instructions!)
We'll start over here at the bar. I've wrapped the top of it in faux leather (I'm in mid-makeover here), and a salvaged granite chunk from a demolition serves as a great place to mix cocktails, open beer, or pour wine. To give it a seasonal note, we clipped inexpensive poinsettias from Walmart to the lampshade, and my snowglobe cakestand sports a triple wick candle for glow.

Moulin Rouge, anyone?

Perpendicular to the bar is my grandmother's hutch.

Our family, as portrayed by the Not Ready For Springtime Players.
Not bad for a $2 dangle, eh?
This ribbon...why did I limit myself to 50 feet?

Mt grandmother's grandmother's wedding crystal from the late 19th century.

We tried to get a couple of Smidgen-free shots of the buffet, but she wasn't interested in complying, so do your best to imagine this scene cat-free.

SPANGLED LAMPSHADE
Now onto the living room!

You remember my antique steamer trunk coffee table, bread bowl...and Arthur.

The new pillows are dressing the couch rather nicely, don't you think?

The fireplace was done in green and silver, which is why I thought the dear pillows would work so well.
Oops, I mean deer.

The swag over our main arch is lit, and done in silver and aqua.
*Recently repaired ceiling in need of paint*
*Missing ceiling fan yet to be installed*

What ironing that needs to be put away? Where?
My bursting spa blue craft cabinet used to be forest green and peach crackle painted. Yep, it's just spray painted. And it happened before you and I met. Snowballs and spangly poinsettias are the theme here.
And then behind the sofa, we carried on the green from autumn with just a few changes.
Like a silver tray to add a taste of formality to the overturned wine crate.
The glitter pumpkin stayed, and we added wonderful cinnamon scented pine cones, silver spray painted crab apples, a hummingbird, and Mardi Gras beads
DOLLAR TREE HURRICANES
The hurricanes from fall also look right at home here.

On to the French doors.

What? The Mardi Gras beads were 6 for a dollar at Target! That's a lot cheaper than garland!
I hope you enjoyed our little walk through.
We're really pleased with how our new decor on a budget came out.
 Are we done?
Not by a LONG shot.
We have big plans for the weekend!

By the way, if you'd like the budget breakdown:
3 packs of Mardi Gras beads at Target, so 18 for $3
2 cans of silver spray paint, $5.94
Cakestand, all supplies from Dollar Tree, $5
Poinsettias on the lamp from Walmart, $5
4 boxes of six iridescent glass balls for bubbles, beach ornaments, and the mistletoe ball, $12
13 glittery ornaments from Dollar Tree, $13. That includes the mistletoe that was 2 to a card.
Miscellaneous glittery ornaments and 4 packs of ornaments at Walmart, $31
50 pack of silver and aqua ornaments from Walmart, $15
3 deer placemats,  $11.97
Pots, dowel rod, and styrofoam for the wreath and topiaries, $8.39

I had the pine garland, and the ribbon was all purchased 90% last January. All of the other supplies, such as shells and sea glass, were in my stash. I shopped the house for everything else.
So, so far I've spent out of pocket a whopping $110.30.
Are we good with that?

  3. Great job! You're rocking that beachy Christmas theme. Without the shirtless santas, no less.
The hutch is my fave, I think. But I'm also loving your little silver tray vignette behind the sofa. And I'm glad you dove into decorating despite the construction works in progress!

  4. Thank you! I hung up my drill in September to just concentrate on being Mom and bringing the holidays back. Last year was a tad sparse on the sparkle.
