A Kind of Bird Thingy Candle Project

A quick trip to the Dollar Tree this weekend gave me an idea
for a little Spring candle scape on the cheap.
First, shop the house for a few supplies.

You'll need a large shallow bowl or platter.

Depending on the size of your vessel, three bags of these moss rocks, $1 per bag.
A couple of colorful little birds.
Some sphagnum moss as a base, right off the potting bench.
And a vase to serve as a hurricane. The moss will keep it steady.
Now ready for the complicated instructions?
Pile the moss rocks around the vase.
The birds are wired. Bend one wire into fourths so your little feathered friend can perch on the hurricane.

There we go.
Bend the other bird's wire in half and nestle him down in the rocks.
Add a candle leftover from your Autumn displays.
Light the candle, then grab a cheap piece of poster board your fabulously high tech background and do an unnecessarily detailed amount of photos to highlight this labor intensive and expensive project.
We'll just park it here in the hallway.
$4 at the Dollar Tree and odds and ends from around the house add up to a quick shot of Spring.
This took all of ten minutes, honestly, so it's very simple.

And let's add this table to the list of furniture we still need to paint, shall we?

  4. That looks great. I was at the Dollar Tree the other day and saw something that reminded me of you. I don't remember now what it was but it was in your trademark aqua or green (Do you have those trademarked? You should.) Sorry if that is weird.

  11. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! I'm definitely stealing this idea :D BTW I've had the same white cabinet for about 10 years, we've used it in so many ways over the years. The best idea I had for it was turning it into a litter box cabinet :D

  13. Oh, nice job! I love the green moss with that wooden bowl - such a great nature-y texture and vibe! I really should try my hand at using it in some Spring decor this year - however, with a snowstorm getting ready to pummel us tonight, it doesn't feel too much like Spring yet! lol
