Pillow Talk

Yeah, you know the pillows.
Those chic, designer embroidered pillows with coral motifs that run $80?
Love.
The price tag? I'm sorry, but I can't be with you. For now.
Yeah, but this placemat is close.
And the price tag??? Let's run off to Vegas, Baby!
You're gonna need:
1. A double layer placemat
2. Needle and thread
3. Pins
4.  A stitch Ripper
5. Stuffing
First, carefully rip a six inch section of hem right out.
Separate the layers so you have a pocket.
Stuff the cavity and pin closed.
Tiny stitches to mimic the originals.
Set the $3 pillow on your couch. Gloat. Repeat.
$4 placemat from Target yesterday.
Yeah, I could keep going. The bottom line is, those spring flings you're longing for are just as cheap as you've fantasized. Go buy some placemats. Make sure they are double thickness. Then go forth and brighten your home one 10 minute commitment at a time!

  10. So chic!! I love the coral one. It looks like something you'd pay an arm and a leg for at Ballards.

  11. Very nice! My mom liked to take the tapestry mats and stitch two together for a pillow, this seems even easier!

  16. Beautiful! I too admire those pricey pillows, but $80 for one little accessory that we're going to SIT ON? I don't think so. I like your version better!!
