I'd like to invite those of you getting your 25th round of snow to join me for a day in Miami.
Oh, heck, even if you've got decent weather, pull up a ray of sunshine and let's do the
Coconut Grove Art Festival!
You think YOUR trees are fun to climb? Pfffffttttttttttttt.
Put your wallet away, I already got everybody's tickets.
The hubster, consulting his iPhone as per usual. Evidently according to it we have a warm, sunny day ahead. I divine these tidbits in a more organic manner, like opening the patio door.
If potatoes can have eyes...
Tuba toothpaste. Tooth brush. I wonder if these would fit in my bathroom?
Next time you clean the playroom, take spray paint and hot glue with you.
I think we still have most of these toys. Hmmmmm...
I need to go through the boys' closets. I'm sure there's 12 grand in there.
Too bad this one was sold. I totally would've whipped out the plastic.
No, really.
Stop laughing.
Even he doesn't believe me.
Energy efficient transportation at its finest.
We skipped these only because there were no matching salt shakers.
New this year was a cake sculptor, and her creations were understandably causing a huge buzz. In fact, it's rumored that the category will be added to next year's festival.
No, no, don't wrap it. I'll just break it here.
I wonder how long this would last in my house...
We have tons of buildings down here constructed from coral.
I was going to try this until I saw how many times this 8 year old fell down. I think I've maxed out my broken bone coverage for the year.
I've had projects that took this turn, haven't you?
Just a quick reminder...
...it's gorgeous down here.
Guy Harvey was the official artist this year. I snagged the festival poster in a heartbeat.
I wonder if the backs of my thighs would be imprinted like this when I got up?
Hey look! The mirror works!
I think this one would work in my house.
Here's a good reason to clean out your drawers.
Now THAT'S an impressive Feline Overlord water dish.
I dunno. You tell me.
A little SPF 50 is in order here.
Hey look, an ATM with free admission!
These are always cool. It's hand carved art with a crank on the side to make them all move.
AND you're allowed to play with them!
There's more, but you look a little worn out, so let's go get something cold and tropical and some coconut shrimp and gator bites and take a break.
And you need more sunscreen on your nose too.
You're making me jealous! That warm weather looks fabulous - so does all that incredible art!

P.S. My Mom has an obsession with frogs, too. Must be a Florida thing. ;)

I like the cat water dish and that guy....with the horn? My sister went as a "One Eyed- one-horned flying purple people eater" for Halloween once, if that dude was purple I'd be positive ;) Nice pics, next year we go together.
ReplyDeleteOk, lady, you are KILLING ME! I big-fat-freakin' love Miami, and am so in withdrawal. Even though I know I'm coming in little more than 1 month. I need a winter home.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am loving those weird dog statues. Do you have info on the artist?
I would love any one of those fountains!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness look at all that AMAZING art! People are so darn creative. My favorites are the Tuba Toothpaste and the "toothbrush." I also like the Spoonbill eating Fruit Loops. And is it my imagination or is the water not real in those Feline Overload water dishes? Either way they are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the eye candy. What a treat, even if I'm just more than a tad bit jealous of your lovely FL weather. I seriously love those fountains. I have visions of Penny and Josie playing in one of those fountains, but what a fun addition that could be to our sunroom.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday!
Wow, thanks so much for posting! We are totally going to do this next year! DH birthday is valentine's day so we could use that for an excuse to go!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the amazing photos! I just emailed my 24 yrs. old son who just rented his 1st apartment the photo of the toys in the frame spray painted! We could so do that!
I'll trade you a snowbank for that shorts-wearing-weather. :) That show looks like it was so much fun. Oh well, I guess I have to wait for the outdoor art season to start up here (in 3 MONTHS)!!! I'm off to cry in the corner. LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL I saw the frogs, and thought to myself, " I bet she took that home" =P What a great afternoon, wish I could have gone. Loved the dragonfly table set.
ReplyDeleteAwesome stuff...and so inspiring. I'm pretty sure I need a wall of asses in my house. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure those mannequins skipped out on the sunscreen, too.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like a fun place to be! I really like the silver windchimes!
ReplyDeleteugh, i love art festivals!
ReplyDeleteHey Sunny! Not only do I love Miami, but I love this art festival. So fun. Thanks for sharing a piece of the sunshine state with us. Gorgeous pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the wonderful tour of Coconut Grove. My DH lived there for 8 years and still talks about it. My favorite story is about the "Fred's Parade". Not sure if that's how it is spelled or if it is still going on. CG is a really special place that I hope to visit soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking me with you! I needed the break...LOVE the "Tuba Toothpaste" and the fountains...and then there's the fruit loops and face off....I am thirsty now and my nose is a little pink...Coconut shrimp sounds good too...yum!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great escape!! Thanks for sharing your fun time!
ReplyDeletesmiles!
Jami
Ahhhhh - that warmed me up!
